What is the PANTONE Color of the Year? Every year, the Pantone Color Institute combs the world for new color influences. They look at the entertainment industry, art exhibits, fashion and combine that with technology, textures and the socio-economic and political climate. Given the tumultuous past year, it's no surprise they selected a fresh color they feels "signals individuals to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate." Insert PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery.
According to PANTONE's website, Greenery is "a refreshing and revitalizing shade, and is symbolic of new beginnings.....Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront - it is an omnipresent hue around the world."
So how does this color play into the wedding world? Obviously, we use greenery all the time in wedding designs, but Altar Ego Weddings is here to show you how to use this color a little or a lot. By the way, green is my (Altar Ego Weddings owner Jen) favorite color, so we are particularly excited for this year's color.
Let's begin with infusing A LITTLE Greenery into your wedding. There are so many places to use green and many colors complement it. We decided to go simple with this inspiration and pair it with classic white. Use greenery and green flowers throughout your wedding! Shades of green run the spectrum, so make it lighter or darker depending on your preference. Look at all the colors and shapes of green plants! You can make it natural, organic, flowy, sculptural or use a big mix. What makes designs interesting is having many different elements that work together. Bring your green into your tabletop items. Green chargers and glassware are the way to go here. It can go with any metallic you'd like! Beautiful, but not overwhelming hand-painted art on your invitations can give you guests a glimpse into what they can expect to see on your wedding day. Finally, give your bridesmaids a gift they can wear again - poppy green earrings! These guys would love fabulous with any neutral bridesmaids dress and will tie the greenery color into your design even more.
Now let's move to the other end of the spectrum! We're going to get a little sassy with this design. Nothing understated here! We are going for the GREEN! Here's a more saturated green wedding invitation. Make your entire bridal bouquet green! Mix things up with your bridesmaids and groomsmen. Let them choose their own dresses and ties. Kick up your heels in bright green shoes! Make your signature drink match your wedding colors. A green ombre cake is sure to stun. Look how the green pops in these table settings. Combine it with another bold color for a bright cohesive design or keep it simply with start white.
